WEEK 15 IN REVIEW

Monday 12/30

Life is good.  :)  I am so lucky and blessed to be on this trip...  I don't have to work, I get to see some awesome places and meet great people, I'm learning about myself and the world, I get to try new things and eat good food... life is just really, really good.  :)

I bought my 2 bus tickets for tomorrow -- 9:00am to Victoria (1 hour, $4) and 5:10pm to Concepcion (3 1/2 hours, $13).  Waking up at 7:30 when I'm used to sleeping til 9 or 10am is tough!  Using an alarm after 3 months of freedom is so hard... ha.

I went to lunch with Irene and we shopped a little bit.  She bought me this big neon yellow bag that I love!!!

Tuesday 12/31

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Feliz año nuevo!  It's 2014! :)

I left Temuco at 9:00am, went to Victoria, saw Ricky and his fam, and Juan Carlos' fam, and left at 5pm, got to Concepcion at 8:45pm.

I had dinner at 10pm with Mannuel's fam, we saw some fireworks, and I'm out!  They're partying, but I'm so so sick.  My allergies turned into being sick.  Fever, headache, entire body ache, nausea, can't breathe, ithchy throat, asthma, runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes.  It's just not fun.

Wednesday 1/1/14

Happy 2014!  I went to the doctor today... I have bronchitis and it's at risk of turning into pneumonia, she said.  I ahve 7 days to lose the fever and improve, or I have to go back.  I'm on 5 prescriptions!!! Five!  Every 8-12 hours.  But the visit and the meds were free, AWESOME!  Afterwards, we went to the beach.  So fun!

Thursday 1/2

So so so sick!  I started throwing up around 4am and didn't stop until 1pm.  I went to the hospital and they gave me a shot in my butt (after waiting there for 4 hours to be seen).  Bleck.  I got new meds ($20) but I haven't taken them yet because I have to eat food but it makes me barf.  I'm kind of miserable.  I slept from like 2-6pm.

When I woke up, I saw a message from Juan Carlos... he's from Victoria but lives in Rancagua, 6 hours north of here.  He said, ''I'm almost to Concepcion to come see you!'' and I was like WHAAAT!!!?  He got here at like 7 or 8pm and we found him a $50 hotel (we had few options!) and hung out for a few hours.

Friday 1/3

I just talked to my fam on skype for a while... I always catch them around midnight because they're 4 hours behind me.

Mannuel, Juan Carlos, and I ended up exploring Concepcion today... we went to a fair/carnival and did some ghetto rides haha, it was fun.  It cost $2 per ride but we bought the promo of 5 rides each for $6.  The carnival is exactly the same as the US, except just a little smaller.  Same rides, though.

Saturday 1/4

Mannuel and I went into Conce today after a failed attempt to go swimming at Santa Juana - it was closed.  We've been having bad luck lately with our plans!

Sunday 1/5

One of my converts, Claudio, is ward mission leader, and he got up in Principles of the Gospel to share his testimony before class.  He cried as he shared how he was at the park by his house when I came up and talked to him, and how the rest of his life changed because of that.  He and his wife got married, she got baptized, they both received callings (bishopric member and RS president!), and they had another daughter (Claudio, Maite, Valeria).  I went up and hugged him, and he asked me to share a few words.  It was so amazing to be able to share my thoughts and experiences, to see the changes in my converts -- to see their confidence individually and in the Church/gospel.  My other convert, Alejandro, is currently 2nd counselor in the bishopric.  And Mannuel is still active and thinking about going on a mission.  It's so amazing to see the blessings that came from my mission... what a miracle. I don't even have words!  It was so good to see those 2 strong families that I taught... :)

(Later)  I'm currently in San Pedro de la Paz at the house of Camila, Heinz, Stevens, Adams, their mom, and their grandma.  It's been fun catching up!  So much to say after 5 years.
