Lake Yahuarcocha, Ibarra, Ecuador!

At church I met a guy named Miguel who invited me to have lunch at his house and then to go on his motorcycle to visit a lake and see the city from the top of a giant hill!

 Welcome to Lake Yahuarcocha!

Miguel and me

The benches were mounds of earth covered in grass

A few people were fishing for small lobsters (what are those called, crawfish?)

 The view!

The shades of green are so impressive

At the top of the hill

Soaking wet on the back of Miguel's motorcycle!

We're not sure what this monument is for, but from what I understood, Simon Bolivar came through here? And there´s a gigantic rock with this sign?

From the top of the rock, facing this plaza with a statue of Bolivar behind that tree on the right

So gorgeous!
